I’ve always been a girl who liked having my nails painted. The only problem was how fast the polish would chip. But I heard about Out the Door top coat from someone who used to work at a beauty shop and decided to see for myself how well it works.

This woman told me how great Out the Door was because it dried so quickly, meaning that you were less likely to ruin the manicure you’d just spent so much time on at home. I admit that I was intrigued because over the years there is no telling how many different nail polishes I’ve used.
Now I admit to being a frugal girl at heart. And I came pretty close to walking ‘out the door’ instead of trying it when I first saw the price in the local beauty supply store. But I remembered the high praise it had gotten so I bit the bullet and picked up a bottle. However, true to my frugal nature, I did pick up the bigger bottle – it was the better value after all (2.3 ounces cost me $11.99)
The next photo was taken one week after I painted my nails. I initially tried the polish because of how quickly it’s supposed to dry, and I think it did dry fairly quickly. But what impressed me most is how well it protected my nail polish from chipping. I spend a LOT of time on the computer typing! I generally have to retouch up my polish at least once during a week.
But not this week.
As you can see, there are slight signs of wear around the fingertips, but considering that I spend hours and hours at the keyboard every week, I’ve got to say that I’m convinced. I can’t think of any other top coat I’ve ever used that has protected my manicure this well even when I wasn’t spending so much time typing. That $11.99 price doesn’t seem so steep now because if it extends the life of my manicure it has saved me money.
Out the Door Top Coat saved me time and money
But the greater savings to me is one of time. I don’t know about you, but I’ve spend lots of time waiting for fresh-painted nails to dry, doing touch-ups, or completely redoing them during the week because they’d gotten so chipped (and I hate it when they look crummy!).
The other thing I liked it that with a topcoat that protects so well, it allows me to use less expensive nail polishes and have some fun with my nails. I used to think that the glitter and glam was only for the younger girls. Then I decided “what the heck?” I used two different glitter polished to jazz up the same color polish you see in the other pictures. I have to admit that I’m having fun playing in the nail polish and you know what, you never get too old to have a little fun.
The two glitter polishes were from Sally Hansen and Ice ($1.99 each at Walmart). The colored polish is Mighty Mango by Sally Hansen.
