Instant Cocoa Mix Recipe
Aunt Finnie's Instant Cocoa Mix
- 1 16 ounce Nestle's Quik
- 1 small box powdered milk
- 1 16 ounce jar powdered coffee creamer
- 3/4 box powdered sugar
Mix all ingredients together and store in airtight container. To make hot cocoa, stir 1/3 cup of cocoa mix into 2/3 cup of hot water.
I make a recipe of this hot cocoa mix when the weather turns cooler so that I have it on hand whenever I want a cup of steaming hot chocolate. Personally, I like to melt marshmallows in mine, but I’ve also had friends who melted crushed peppermint candy in theirs.
If you’re going to be having lots of company visit, having a percolator full of hot water means that mixing this up is a breeze. Just set out mugs (or Styrofoam cups), spoons, napkins, marshmallows, or peppermint pieces and you’ve got your drink station stocked.
This also makes a great gift to give your child’s school or Sunday School teachers. The recipe makes enough that you can divide it out into separate containers for gift giving. I like to keep the plastic containers that coffee creamers come in – they make perfect containers to hold the cocoa mix. And you can decorate them with holiday stickers, ribbons, or fabric to make them pretty for gift giving.
I like giving gifts that people can use up and enjoy. It means that I’m not contributing to their clutter by giving them something they have to find a place for and dust. Even your friends who are big coffee drinkers could enjoy this by adding a spoonful to their morning coffee for a change of flavor.
